About Ukiyo House.

Ukiyo House was created by a couple who love beautiful things.

One half is third-generation Port Willunga. She grew up with happy memories of idyllic days in the oceanfront town, surrounded by loving grandparents and salty sea air.

The other was born a world away and spent summer holidays in a mudbrick house in West Bengal, bounded by the raw earthy goodness of an extended family and home that deeply nourished.

Together, we dreamt up a unique and sublime escape we could use and share with our friends and fellow humans. A place inspired by meaning and filled with beauty and comforts and finery and warmth. A place to disappear and forget the world’s rumblings. A place to draw wonder, with a genuine capacity to restore.

Each stay in Ukiyo House is a breath of new life for us. We hope it is for you, too.

About the region.

Port Willunga

35kms south of Adelaide, you’ll find the yellow-gold cliffs, white sand and rich blue sea of Port Willunga. This sweeping stretch of picture-perfect coastline is famous for its rugged caves, epic shipwreck diving and wooden pylons that peak out from beneath the surf. We adore eating the scrumptious seafood at the Star of Greece restaurant, and buying fresh local produce at the Willunga Farmers’ Market on Saturday mornings.

Fleurieu Peninsula

Port Willunga is part of the Fleurieu Peninsula, which also includes some pretty charming neighbouring towns such as Victor Harbor, Normanville, Goolwa, Yankalilla and Rapid Bay. Pick fresh strawberries, grab a pastry at the iconic Port Elliot bakery, enjoy a leisurely cruise along Great Southern Ocean Drive, or enjoy a spot of bushwalking at Deep Creek Conservation Park.

McLaren Vale

World-renowned wine region McLaren Vale is a short 14-minute drive away from Ukiyo House. As well as being home to sustainable wines and famous labels you know and love, you’ll also find cool breweries and distilleries and gastronomic experiences galore that will knock your socks off. Be sure to check out the D’Arenberg Cube, have a gin tasting at Never Never Distillery or go ‘Down The Rabbit Hole’ for a tasting in a double-decker bus.
